Young Musician's String Festival
Application
The 4th annual Young Musician String Festival is scheduled at Symphony Hall on Sunday, November 13, 2011 at 2:00pm. Students in 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th grades with a signed recommendation of their Music Teacher are eligible to participate. (We will accept applications of individuals up to age 13). Eligible participants must have at least one year experience with their string instrument and be able to read basic rhythms (1/4 , 1/8, 1/2 and whole notes)
In order to participate in the String Festival, participants must attend two mandatory rehearsals and the Sunday dress rehearsal;
Rehearsal Schedule:
Wednesday - November 9,2011 from 6:30pm to 8:30pm
Saturday - November 12, 2011 from 9:00am to 11:00am
Sunday - November 13, 2011 (Dress Rehearsal) 1:00-1:30 pm and Photo Sessions
Maestra Wittry will hold auditions for 1st & 2nd stand placements for 1st & 2nd violin and 1st stand placements for viola, cello and bass at Symphony Hall on Wednesday November 9, 2011. If you are interested, you must plan your stand placement audition around the following schedule:
4:00pm Violin I
4:30pm Violin II
4:55pm Viola
5:15pm Cello
5:40pm Bass
The Young Musician String Festival precedes Sunday’s Allentown Symphony Orchestra Concert scheduled for 3:00pm. The Orchestra Concert will feature acclaimed violinist Elizabeth Pitcairn and her famous Red Mendelssohn Stradivarius of 1720. Students will be performing excerpts from Brahms No.3, Prokofiev Violin Concerto No.,2 and also world premiering excerpts from Caprice a new composition by 14 year old composer Rory Lipkis.
