YPP & JSP Holiday Concert
Sunday, December 22 at 4pm - Tickets
The Young People's Philharmonic and the Junior String Philharmonic of the Lehigh Valley are hosting their Annual Holiday Concert. The Junior String Philharmonic will perform the World Premier of "Who's Who?" ( An Introduction to the String Orchestra). This piece was composed by Richard Meyer and commissioned by the orchestra in honor and memory of Nancy Bidlack, founder and long time director of the Junior String Philharmonic. "Who's Who?" is a great way to educate audiences of all ages about the different instruments of the string orchestra. All of the different instruments take the spotlight as the main theme is followed by five variations, each featuring a different section. The piece concludes with a rousing 6/8 finale in which phrases of the theme are tossed from section to section.
The Young People's Philharmonic will be performing Tchaikovsky's Capriccio Italien, Wagner's Overture to the Opera Rienzi, Berlioz's Hungarian March, Weber's Overture to the Opera, Der Freischutz, and conclude with LeRoy Anderson's Christmas Festival.
This is a concert sure to delight the whole family and a wonderful way to start the Holiday Week!
